Trey had the good fortune of being able to follow his father in two of his passions, photography and finance. Starting with a safari in Africa in 2004, Trey has traveled around the world to photograph Africa’s big cats, great whites off the coast of Mexico, brown bears in Southwest Alaska, Puffins in Iceland, Orcas in Norway and the sidelines of Gillette Stadium to photograph the New England Patriots.
Among his favorite and most challenging trips, he spent 13 days in the Arctic to photograph Polar Bear cubs as they come of out of the den for the first time. This remote location, known for one of the few places to photograph cubs, is 40 miles from the nearest town. There is no running water, no cell service, temperatures are often below -30˚and -50˚with the windchill. Each day they would set out looking for bears emerging from their dens. Yet, in the first 11 days, he had only one 20-minute session with a mother and two cubs – disappointing to say the least. After begging to stay on an extra 2 days, he was put up in the crew quarters and finally was able to spend five hours photographing another mother and two cubs on his last day. It made the whole trip worth it and gives you an idea of how he spends his vacation.
