Trey is an avid photographer with a passion for capturing wildlife images all over the world. His adventures have taken him along the Alaskan Peninsula to photograph brown bears, off the coast of Mexico for Great Whites, and above the Arctic Circle to freedive with Orcas. When he’s not guiding clients through complex financial decisions, he is immersed in nature, waiting for the perfect shot.
Brown Bear diets consist largely of grasses, flowers and berries, however this Mother and Cub are in Hallo Bay for the plentiful supply of clams and the incoming salmon run beginning in a few short weeks.
An Apex predator of the ocean, Great Whites migrate to Guadalupe for the large fur seal, elephant seal and tuna population. It’s speculated the island may also serve as a place for mating although this has never been observed anywhere in the world.
Polar Bears give birth to the smallest young compared to their adult size than any other mammal. Only a couple of months old, this cub has grown quickly thanks to its mother’s milk containing 40% fat; about 10x that of a cow.
No matter where his itinerary takes him, Trey’s focus always remains on his clients and the markets. Starting with a satellite phone and now a starlink antenna, Trey is able to maintain full connectivity when he’s away from the office one or two weeks a year.
Bald Eagles, which mate for life, build nests as large as 10 feet across and weighing over 2,000lbs. As adults they have wingspans up to 7.5 feet and can dive at speeds up to 100mph.
Humpbacks are the largest breaching whales and can travel up to 5,000 miles every year to their feeding grounds in Alaska. With it’s long days, Trey took this sunset photo just before midnight.
Puffins will leave their nesting grounds to fly up to 50 miles to fish for sandeel larva. They will then carry an average of 10 fish back to the nest to feed their young – pufflings.
Brown Bears gather along the coast throughout Katmai, every summer, to fish for the 1 million salmon that will swim upstream to spawn in a matter of weeks. After weeks of feeding on up to 30 salmon a day, the bears tend to focus only eating the heads, skin and eggs for their high protein and fat content.
Guadalupe is known for one of the best places in the world to cage dive with Great Whites due to the abundance of sharks during the Fall and the crystal clear water; visibility can exceed 100 feet.
Orcas can be found all over the world, but many congregate in Northern Norway each year to feed on the billions of herring that come to spawn in the fjords. After forming a baitball, orcas will swim through the baitball, stun the herring with their tail, then catch them, one at a time, filet it and spit the bones back out.
