Senior Vice President–Wealth Management
Financial Advisor
Insight grounded in experience
Russell’s passion and skill is identifying solutions to his clients’ wealth planning needs—and bringing together the resources needed to implement those solutions. Being part of a planning-oriented team comes naturally to him, as does recognizing that each family is unique and therefore their investment strategy will be, too. He learned this from personal experience.
When Russell graduated from college, his grandfather passed away and left his mother a small inheritance. She asked Russell for advice regarding how to invest the money, and after much research and conversation about her goal for the inheritance, he invested it in a diversified portfolio of mutual funds. One of his parent's’ dreams was to own a beach house where they spent cherished family summer vacations when the children were young. After just six years, the money had grown enough for them to achieve that goal. Today, Russell is driven to help people create the plan appropriate for reaching their goals, and then to see that plan through to completion.
Russell joined Legg Mason as a financial advisor in 1994, and joined UBS in 2009. The dedication and commitment he brings to his work comes from his experience as a competitive cyclist earlier in life, spending time with the U.S. national team and in the 1992 Olympic trials.
Credentials that build confidence
Russell is a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ professional and maintains his licenses in life, health and long-term care insurance. He has completed the UBS Portfolio Management Program and also holds the Wealth Management designation from UBS.
In 1993, Russell graduated from the former Western Maryland College (now McDaniel College), with a dual B.S. degree in economics and business administration, along with a minor in mathematics.
Outside of UBS
With an apiary on his property, Russell is a dedicated bee keeper and member of the Central Maryland Beekeepers Association. He also enjoys golf, fly fishing, cycling, and spending time with his family – his wife, Keri, daughter Analiese, son Hudson, and the family’s Yellow Lab, Luna.
Russell is committed to supporting his clients’ philanthropic interests. He is an active advocate of locally sourced and organically grown foods, including products from clients who have made their living by farming.
