David is dedicated to helping investors maximize their retirement income, preserve and protect their current assets, and ensure their legacy endures for generations to come. He assists clients in confronting financial uncertainty and empowers them to live their financial lives on their own terms by providing actionable, trustworthy investment strategies.
David is a seasoned financial advisor with over 35 years of experience at UBS. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Finance from the University of Akron. After graduating, David briefly worked in the insurance industry before following his true passion for investing. In 1992, he joined his father, the late Ken Staats, a successful stockbroker at UBS’ predecessor firm, PaineWebber, Inc. Today David continues to foster their nearly 60-year combined legacy of building wealth for multi-generational families. He earned the Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU) and Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC) designations and serves as a Portfolio Manager in the UBS Portfolio Management Program (PMP). In 2001 David co-founded the Staats Rizor Financial Group which has now grown to six members, including three Financial Advisors and three Team Associates.
David lives in Bath with his wife, Kelly, who is a cheer coach and furniture refinisher. They have two daughters: Marissa, a CPA with EY, and Allison, a medical school student at The University of Toledo. As a goal-oriented and competitive individual, David is passionate about coaching softball, where it’s required to be adaptable and flexible given the diverse set of situations. His teams have won two state championships and one national championship. He also enjoys fishing, investing, weightlifting, and real estate, particularly transforming unattractive homes into beautiful properties.

Financial Advisor
Donna works to help families navigate difficult growth environments, overcome critical life events and take care of growing financial responsibilities. Her goal is to help find her clients the right investments so they can build financial security and live their financial life on their terms. Her efforts are concentrated on developing long-term relationships through a commitment to quality client service.
Donna has been in the financial services industry for over 40 years. She began her career with UBS (formerly PaineWebber, Inc.) in operations and has been a Financial Advisor since 1993. She co-founded the Staats Rizor Financial Group in 2001.
A native of Norton, Ohio, Donna is deeply involved in her community. She has served as Treasurer of the Norton Music Boosters, Secretary of the Akron Area Soap Box Derby, and currently is President of Wolf Creek Players. Donna is also known as “The Voice of the Norton HS Marching Band,” announcing football halftime shows and band invitationals for the past 12 years. In 2022, she placed second in the national Music for All Bands of America Announcer Challenge.
Donna is also passionate about the arts. She has been involved in community theater since high school, performing, producing, and directing various shows. Her detail-oriented personality and ability to stay focused on end goals are valuable assets both professionally and personally.
Donna enjoys spending time with her husband, Tim, a professional musician. Their daughter, Gray, is a graduate of Ohio University and works as a producer and audio engineer. The family also includes their Goldendoodle and Cavachon, and four rescue cats.
Financial Advisor
Brent is a dedicated financial advisor who specializes in helping individuals and multi-generational families secure their retirements. With a focus on navigating critical life events and challenging income-generating environments, Brent works hard to ensure his clients have sufficient income for their lifetime. He achieves this through solid wealth management practices and by identifying the right investments that align with his clients’ life goals.
The team, founded in 2001, has grown to six members, including three Financial Advisors and three Team Associates. Brent holds an MBS from Texas A&M University. He joined the team in 2016, bringing with him a wealth of technical knowledge that he adeptly converts into practical, actionable strategies. Together, they are committed to providing exceptional financial guidance and support.
Brent resides in Jackson Township with his wife Joy, their son Travis, and their beloved shih-tzu, Bella. Family time is a priority for Brent, and he cherishes the moments spent together.
A silver medalist in Tae Kwon Do at the Junior Olympics, Brent has a passion for coaching sports such as Track & Field and Basketball. He draws inspiration from his own coach, Glenn Jeep Davis, a three-time Olympic gold medalist, and believes that staying positive, focused, and dedicated are the keys to achieving any goal. Brent also enjoys practicing Jiu-Jitsu with his son, though the day of the student becoming the teacher is quickly approaching!

Cheryl is dedicated to helping individuals and multi-generational families, especially those at or nearing retirement age. Known for her detail-oriented, disciplined, and dedicated approach, Cheryl expertly navigates the operations of the team, and specializes in assisting clients with their cash disbursement needs, including ensuring retirees meet the required minimum distribution obligations from retirement accounts.
Cheryl joined the team in early 2019 after a successful 34-year career as a CPA in public accounting. She decided to transition from public accounting to avoid another tax season and met with David and Brent to prepare a financial goal analysis with plans to retire. David then invited her to join the team, a decision Cheryl considers one of the best she has ever made. She now loves working with clients to assist them in seamlessly completing their financial transactions. Cheryl’s long-standing relationship with David, who has been her financial advisor since 1991, adds a unique depth of trust and collaboration.
Cheryl lives in Canal Fulton, Ohio, and enjoys the charm of small-town life. She shares her home with her miniature dachshund, Lexie. In her free time, Cheryl loves to quilt and knit, with a particular obsession for knitting socks. She also knits preemie hats for Akron Children’s Hospital and sews pillowcases for Palliative Care at Akron Children’s Hospital in memory of her grandson, who received incredible and compassionate care from them.

Kristen is dedicated to helping families navigate the complexities of wealth management. She strives to make account processes manageable and seamless, and focuses on providing actionable, trustworthy strategies that clients can rely on.
Kristen graduated Summa Cum Laude from Miami University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting. She began her career as a CPA with KPMG’s audit staff before transitioning to tax, where she went on to work as a Tax Compliance Manager at Ernst & Young. Kristen joined the team in 2019 and holds Series 7 and Series 66 licenses, making her a registered representative and investment adviser representative. She specializes in transitioning new accounts to UBS and managing the complexities of estates and trusts.
Kristen lives in Medina with her husband, Chris. Their two daughters, Bridget and Brittany, are also both graduates of Miami University’s School of Business. She is the sister of Financial Advisor David Staats and the daughter of Ken Staats, a successful stockbroker at PaineWebber, the predecessor firm to UBS. Kristen is known for her detail-oriented approach, strong relationship-building skills, and disciplined work ethic.

Megan works to help motivated, like-minded individuals by fostering long-term relationships with commitment to quality client service. She specializes in collaborating with clients to help them navigate critical life events and growing financial responsibilities.
As the newest member of the team, Megan brings a wealth of expertise, having been a Team Associate with UBS since 2019. Her attention to detail and adaptability help create seamless transitions for new clients by collaborating with various UBS departments, including banking, reporting, technology, and account transfers. Utilizing the firm’s vast technological resources, Megan helps clients feel confident in their abilities to transact on their own behalf.
Megan is a foodie who started her career as a waitress at a high-end restaurant, where she met her husband. She attributes much of her success in her role to her positivity and the relationship-building skills she developed in the restaurant industry. A big-time animal lover, Megan’s empathy shines through as she has volunteered at various shelters and often donates to animals in need. She and her husband Nick live in West Akron with their five rescue animals: three cats (Kipper, Oakley, Todd) and two dogs (Elley, a Boxer/Pit mix, and Cooper, a Standard Aussie mix). Megan enjoys sitting outside and bird watching with Cooper and Elley.
Megan and Nick are excited to welcome their first child, a baby boy, at the end of 2024. They are especially grateful for fellow team member Cheryl’s knitting obsession, as the new baby is already stocked up on socks!
