A wealth of experience
Tom’s extensive 35-year career has encompassed international banking in French-speaking Europe, currency trading in New York City, and investment banking and portfolio management in the Pacific Northwest. His dedication to guiding clients and their portfolios through numerous market cycles over the years has strengthened Tom's belief that building friendships and relationships is key to understanding and serving his clients.
The personal approach
Tom joined UBS in 2006. As Senior Portfolio Manager, his focus is on developing and managing investment portfolios tailored to each client's personal objectives and risk tolerances. His team embraces active management and portfolios comprised largely of carefully chosen individual stocks. "We like to know what we own," summarizes his investment philosophy, as our clients know exactly where we have invested for them, and why.
Tom and his multigenerational team understand life stages that each client typically passes through, and how they shape that client's needs and concerns over time.
Giving back
Tom serves as Executive Board Member and past President of the Board of the Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) of Oregon, whose mission is to serve as a voice/advocate for foster children. His wife is an active CASA volunteer as well.
Outside UBS
Tom believes that relationships with family and friends reflect what's important in life. He and his wife, Anna Maria, have four adult children—one of which is a member of The Savinar Group—and two grandsons. Tom loves spending time with his family, and black lab, Oliver at their house at Cannon Beach. Tom enjoys traveling and running marathons—at last count, ten around the world.

Building long-term relationships
For Alex, nothing is more rewarding than being the first person a client calls when contemplating a major life decision. He is dedicated to building long-term relationships with clients who range from emerging professionals to well-established executives. His goal is to act as his clients’ “personal CFO,” a title that best describes the vital role he plays on their advisory team. His clients understand the importance of partnering with a well-rounded advisor to build and secure their financial future.
Finding the right balance
Alex has always loved family and building relationships, so he was naturally drawn to a multigenerational business in which he could work with his family and where helping others is essential. After seven years in the Colorado oil and gas industry, where he gained a deep understanding of the unique needs of energy industry professionals, Alex joined UBS in 2015.
Alex believes that every relationship starts with a comprehensive financial plan. Whether the outcome is building assets, deriving income during retirement or preserving and passing a legacy to the next generation, he focuses on designing an individualized plan, striking that right balance of risk and return that brings peace of mind to clients.
