Financial Advisor
Richard Rand joined UBS as a Financial Advisor in June 2004. Prior to joining UBS, he served as Director of Sales for Southern Company in Atlanta, Georgia. During his time there, Richard worked closely with UBS (then Paine Webber) and employees on 401(k) investing strategies and stock option exercises. Through those experiences, he developed a passion for helping individuals and families pursue their financial goals through personalized wealth management. Today, Richard's primary objective is to help clients understand how their assets are working toward their unique financial aspirations and long-term objectives.
Richard holds FINRA Series 7 and 66 registrations, as well as Health and Life Insurance licenses. He is registered as an agent in 30 states and has earned the Certified Retirement Plans Specialist℠ (CRPS®) designation. Richard has also achieved the title of UBS Wealth Advisor, a distinction held by a select group of advisors within the firm.
Born in New York City, Richard moved to Mexico City at the age of two, where Spanish became his first language. He remains fluent in Spanish today, allowing him to serve a diverse range of clients. Richard earned a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from Cornell University.
Since relocating to Durham in 2004, Richard and his family have become deeply rooted in the local community, joining an extended family network with longstanding ties to the area. He and his wife, Debbie, are the proud parents of four sons—Richard, Charlie, Jack, and Henry. Outside of the office, Richard enjoys attending his sons' sporting events, cycling, and spending time with a good book.

Client Associate
Richard joined UBS in June 2026 as a Client Associate. Prior to joining UBS, Richard
lived in Charlotte working as a Sales Representative for TEKsystems, where he
worked with their Financial Services clients to deliver tailored IT solutions. As of
June 2026, Richard holds his SIE license and is currently studying for his Series 7.
Richard IV was born in Atlanta but quickly moved to Durham when he was just two years old. Growing up, Richard IV played club soccer, frequently making road trips around the Southeast with his Dad for weekend games and tournaments. For high school he attended Durham Academy and continued his education at University of South Carlina’s Darla Moore School of Business. Richard IV graduated in May 2024 with a Bachelor of Science in Finance and Business Analytics. Richard’s hobbies and interests include golfing, Duke basketball, and spending time with his younger brothers.
