Brian left a career in education to join the securities industry in 2001 and started the Mariash Lowther Wealth Management team in 2008. His personal mission to Educate, Connect, and Contribute has become the mission of the team. Brian holds the Certified Investment Management Analyst® designation (CIMA®), administered by the Investments & Wealth InstituteTM (The Institute) and taught in conjunction with The Wharton School of Business. Brian also has his Accredited Asset Management SpecialistTM, AAMS® designation from The College for Financial Planning Institutes Corp.
Brian is active in many local community efforts including having served on the boards of the Child Protection Center of Sarasota and the Jewish Family and Children Services. He is the proud father of three children (Anthony, Zachary, and Alexis), grandfather to Everly, and resides in Sarasota with his wife, Dara, and their two Dachshunds, Gio and Barney.

James Barton Lowther began his financial services career in 2010 after graduating from Tulane University. As a Financial Advisor, Bart has assisted clients by managing their individual wealth through multiple and complex market cycles in accordance with their individual needs. Bart is a frequent speaker on investment planning for retirement which has been a primary business focus for Bart and his team. Bart focuses on delivering a comprehensive approach to managing wealth that begins with listening to a client’s needs and helps to ensure every strategy is grounded in understanding what each client wants to achieve.
Bart is a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ professional and also holds the Chartered Retirement Planning CounselorSM designation, issued by the College for Financial Planning. As a CFP® and CRPC®, Bart works with clients to develop financial plans and plan for retirement income to best achieve their financial goals.
Bart and his fiancé, Dana, live in Sarasota with their two dogs, Beaux and Layla. Outside of work, Bart enjoys playing guitar, going to the beach, cooking, and attempting to play golf.

Shannon Murphy has enjoyed a dynamic career in the financial services industry since 2010, serving in a variety of client focused and supervisory roles at competitor firms in both retail branches and Private Wealth Management. After relocating from Pittsburgh to Florida in 2020, she joined Mariash Lowther Wealth Management, where she supports the team’s marketing initiatives, manages events, and partners closely with Brian to help drive the team’s business development process. Shannon also oversees the team’s daily operational and client support services.
Shannon graduated from Duquesne University with a Bachelor of Science in Marketing and enjoyed coordinating programs for the University’s American Marketing Association.
Shannon lives in West Bradenton with her husband, Dan, and their son, Liam. As a family, they enjoy spending time on the water, making sushi and wood fired pizzas, and volunteering at the local animal shelter. Shannon also serves the community as a Den Leader for Cub Scouts Pack 22, a role that aligns with her passion for connection, service, and developing meaningful experiences for young families.

Sovanna Sok began his career in financial services in February 2007 as a Service Operations Associate at Merrill Lynch. In this early role, he developed a strong foundation in operational excellence and high-touch client service—principles that continue to guide his work today. In November 2022, Sovanna joined the Mariash Lowther Wealth Management team, where he enjoys being part of a collaborative team focused on helping clients achieve their goals. He values building meaningful relationships and takes pride in getting to know clients and supporting them with care and attention.
Sovanna earned his Bachelor’s degree in Finance from the University of South Florida in December 2016.
Outside of the office, Sovanna is passionate about cooking, with a special focus on Cambodian and Thai cuisine. His love of food inspires his enjoyment of traveling and hosting lively dinner parties for family and friends.

Theo Rainey recently joined the team after relocating to Florida from Portland, Maine in the fall of 2025. He graduated from the University of Vermont in Spring 2025 with a degree in Economics. Born in Québec, Canada, Theo holds dual U.S. and Canadian citizenship and is fluent in French. His international background has shaped a global perspective that he brings to both his professional and personal life.
In his role as a Client Associate, Theo draws on his academic foundation in economics, his strong organizational skills, and his relationship focused mindset to support clients and the broader team with care and precision. His experience working across cultures and managing complex interactions has prepared him to anticipate client needs, communicate clearly, and contribute to a high standard of service. With a large multinational network of family and friends, Theo has developed a passion for travel and building meaningful relationships across cultures—an approach he brings to every client interaction, striving to provide thoughtful support, responsiveness, and attention to detail.
When not in the office, Theo can usually be found playing guitar, staying active through running, swimming, and weightlifting, or grabbing the mic for karaoke on the weekends.
