James L. Koltes is a Senior Vice President of UBS Financial Services Inc. From 1994 through 2000, he was a Senior Vice President of PaineWebber, Inc. responsible for the Institutional Equity Sales Department in Washington, DC in addition to coordinating risk program trading nationally. From 1980 through 1994, he was a Senior Vice President and partner of Kidder, Peabody & Co., Inc. responsible for the Institutional Equity Sales Department in Washington, D.C. Prior to joining Kidder in 1980, he was a Vice President and Manager of Blyth, Eastman, Dillon & Co., Inc. Institutional Equity Department (1970-1980).
Mr. Koltes has been the Chairman of the Asset Allocation Committee of the Navy-Marine Corps Relief Society since 1981. From 1981 through 1984, he was the Founding Chairman of the Investment Committee of the District of Columbia Retirement Board, which was the first federally mandated public pension system. He has served on the Executive Committee of the Council of Institutional Investors of which he was a founding member. In addition, he has served as the Chairman of the Washington Area Investment Forum and is a member of the Economic Club of Washington, and previously a member of Pension Group East. Mr. Koltes has served on the Board of Directors of the Washington, D.C. Society of Investment Analysts, The Security Traders Association of Washington, D.C. and the Piedmont Income Fund. He is a member of the CFA Institute and the CFA Society of Washington D.C. Additionally he was a member of the Government Relations Committee of the Financial Analysts Federation, and member of the National Association of State Investment Officers (NASIO).
Mr. Koltes received a BA in Economics from the University of Notre Dame and served six years as a Lieutenant in the United States Navy. His experience in Vietnam is included in Max Hastings recent book "VIETNAM An Epic Tragedy 1945-1975". He is also a Knight of Malta, KM.
