Senior Vice President–Wealth Management
With over 17 years of experience in the financial industry, Ted has built a distinctive service model by delivering highly responsive and individualized attention, and a personalized and objective planning process. His goal is to help his clients reach theirs.
Ted has a sophisticated and dynamic wealth planning process to best care for the management of the "big picture" for families of significant wealth. Through his process, Ted helps his clients recognize how each goal affects the others, and how they work together, to see that the important aspects of his clients' lives have been fully addressed. The premise of Ted's process is to help provide clients with confidence in achieving the goals they value while avoiding unnecessary risk. Every one of his clients goes through this important process and receives regular reviews of progress toward their goals, regular personal communication, and on-going support.
Ted recognizes that life is dynamic, and a wealth plan must evolve as clients to. He guides clients in making adjustments to factors they can control in the face of those they cannot. He coordinates with his clients' CPAs and attorneys as needed to help ensure that the entire team is focused on the clients' goals. He helps clients recalibrate to keep them centered and on-track. With Ted's wealth planning process, clients know where they stand in reference to their goals every step of the way. Ted serves corporate executives, private equity principals, attorneys, entrepreneurs and closely-held business owners. He grows the practice through selective referrals. This allows him to effectively address each of his clients' specific needs. Ted's clients' interests come first. His caring, commitment, and attention to detail creates mutually fulfilling, multigenerational relationships.
Ted is a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ certificant, a designation awarded by the Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards, Inc. Ted is also a qualified Portfolio Manager who, in addition to providing traditional advice and guidance, can help clients pursue their objectives by building and managing his own personalized or defined strategies, which may incorporate individual stocks and bonds, UBS model portfolios, and third-part investment strategies.
For the past three years, Ted has been named a Premier Advisor and one of the Bay Area's Top Wealth Managers by NABCAP, an independent, unaffiliated non-profit whose mission is to identify top practitioners, and to promote best practices and provide transparency to the wealth management industry.
After starting rowing his freshmen year at Dartmouth College, Ted successfully made the US National Team three years later, winning numerous International medals and competing in the 1996 and 2000 Olympics, winning a Silver Medal in Sydney in 2000. In March, 2012, in recognition of his successful rowing career and contribution to the US Olympic Teams, Ted was elected to the US Rowing Hall of Fame, housed in Mystic Seaport Connecticut.
Ted lives in Marin, with his wife Kelly, and their twins Jack and Katie. He is on the board of the Northern California Olympians, and he and Kelly are affiliated with both the SF Symphony and Red Cross Bay Area boards – and their fundraising efforts – as well. Ted is an avid golfer and swimmer, although less accomplished in both sports than he would like; and he enjoys reading, and good food and wine.
