Purpose and passion
Russ is the CEO and Chief Investment Officer of CORAL Investment Partners, as well as one of its co-founders. He is a senior portfolio manager for the Portfolio Management Program—managing large-cap growth and high-yield equity portfolios. Russ brings his considerable expertise and passion to equity investing and advising clients on asset allocation suitable to their unique situations.
A fascination with how companies grow
Growing up, Russ was fascinated by the family portfolio his grandfather put together from a few shares of General Electric stock. His fascination grew into an interest in how businesses grow or fail over time. Russ graduated cum laude from Rutgers University with a B.A. in economics. He started his career in the financial services industry in 1977 as a Financial Advisor with Merrill Lynch. He continued in that capacity and added the role of Portfolio Manager at Oppenheimer. He joined UBS (then PaineWebber) in 1994, where he was a solo Financial Advisor. In 2000, he was joined by his partner and wife, Margaret Beal. Along with Tom Coash, they formed CORAL Investment Partners in 2011. Russ was appointed Managing Director, Investments, in 2012. He has taken part in the UBS pilot program for the Clinton Initiative, a mentoring program working with small business clients and women entrepreneurs. He also serves on the UBS Portfolio Management Council, an editorial advisory group for wealth management research.
