My grandfather was a farmer in Iowa. He was soft spoken and lived a simple life. What no one knew, not even my grandmother, was that he was a savvy investor. He had been acquiring farm land and investing in the stock market for over 35 years. When he passed away in 1997, my grandmother was not prepared for the responsibility of managing those assets. The entire family had to organize the investments. Shortly after his death, my grandmother was diagnosed with dementia and needed hospice care. Because of my grandfather’s investments, we had the capability to give her the care she needed and deserved. That was the beginning of my involvement in wealth management. One could say the reason I do what I do is because I love to help people navigate financial challenges and build wealth for their families. My grandfather taught me well.

My grandfather was very active. He loved golf, exercised every day, attended Mass and was very involved with the community. In 2013 my grandparents were on a cruise in Europe. They traveled frequently, but this is one trip they dreamed about. As they were getting off the ship in Budapest, my grandfather slipped on the stairs and hit his head. He spent weeks in a hospital in Budapest after being diagnosed with serious neurological damage. He was confined to a wheelchair for the rest of his life, needing assistance with everyday activities.

Despite these hardships, what became very apparent to me is that they had a financial plan in place. In most family situations this incident would cause serious problems as the family tried to understand the true financial situation. The plan allowed my grandmother to comfortably enjoy her life and provide the care my grandfather needed.

Many friends ask me why I do what I do. The answer is simple, I want all the clients of Bristol Bay Partners to have a strong financial roadmap so that they have plan under any circumstance in life. I saw the success of a plan in my family and how important it can be.
