Born and raised in Cuba, Mr. Lopez-Balboa graduated from high school and arrived to the United States to attend Georgetown University, where he studied accounting and finance. Upon graduation, Jorge began his 50+ year career in the financial services industry at Paine, Webber, Jackson, & Curtis in Washington, D.C. Jorge eventually found his home at Merrill Lynch where he managed over $400 million for institutions, nonprofits, endowments, and high net worth individuals for over 25 years. In 2001, Jorge retired from the financial services industry.
After 8 years of golf and doing enough bird watching to even bore Sir David Attenborough, Jorge realized retirement wasn’t for him. He returned to the business in 2009, but this time found his home at UBS Financial Services. Mr. Lopez-Balboa’s extensive experience in portfolio management through various market cycles has equipped him with the ability to offer innovative solutions for a broad variety of sophisticated clients. Jorge's vast knowledge lends perspective and insight, which adds value to the team’s wealth management practice. His background and multi-decade resume has earned him the unofficial title of the “gray hair on the team”.
After residing in Washington, D.C. for more than half a century, Jorge relocated to Sarasota, FL with his loving wife. When he is not attending concerts and shows at the Van Wezel Performing Arts Hall, Jorge spends his time in Bethany Beach, DE hosting his three adult children and eight grandchildren at his beach house.
Alexis graduated with a B.A. in English and minor in Spanish and Theater from Georgetown University, while also playing goalkeeper for the women’s soccer team. Upon graduation from Georgetown, Alexis went on to receive an online M.B.A. from the University of Maryland, University College. The online program enabled her to pursue her music career in the evenings, where she was lead singer and rhythm guitarist in a rock band. Her fondest memory was playing the legendary 9:30 Club in D.C. Today, instead of playing to a crowd of thousands, she is plays Disney songs for her two young children.
Prior to joining the financial services industry, Alexis was a certified Project Management Professional (PMP®) in the Government Contracting space. While grateful for the experience, Alexis had this insatiable appetite for more, so she entered the financial services industry as a Registered Client Service Associate at Morgan Stanley Private Wealth Management. After obtaining her Series 7 and 66 licenses, she led the marketing, business development, and the Alternative Investments process for current and prospective clients. In 2015, Alexis moved to UBS Financial Services to become a Financial Advisor. She dove in head first and obtained her life and health insurance licenses, became a Certified Financial PlannerTM (CFP®) professional, a Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC®), a Certified Divorce Financial Analyst (CDFA®), and a Certified Exit Planning Advisor (CEPA)…all in 5 years.
Inspired by her father’s incredible recovery from a freak accident in 2016, she and her family are stalwart supporters for Spinal Cord and Traumatic Brain Injury rehabilitation services. Specifically the positive impact that art therapy has on the recovery journey.
Whether it’s cage diving with Great Whites in South Africa or trekking the lemurs of Madagascar, Alexis loves adventure travel. Currently, Alexis resides in the District with her husband, son, daughter, and rescue dog, Cayman.
