After earning his business degree while a four-year letterman in football, Scott began his investment career in 1993 and worked at Smith Barney and its predecessor firms until April 2009. While at Smith Barney, Scott was a member of the Century Council and had completed the curriculum of The Consulting Group University and the Portfolio Manager Program, both firm-sponsored higher education programs.
Scott joined UBS in April 2009 and works with high-net-worth individuals and families, pension and profit-sharing plans, and trusts and foundations. He is responsible for heading up the research, management, risk monitoring, and trading of the group's proprietary investment models. Scott also focuses on the research and due diligence of alternative investment managers available through UBS and how they best fit into a client's overall asset allocation. Scott has been awarded the title of Senior Portfolio Manager under the Portfolio Management Program at UBS, which oversees the management of proprietary portfolios on a discretionary basis. This designation is awarded to less than 10% of UBS Financial Advisors world-wide. Scott is also a member of the firm’s President's Council.
Tom joined PaineWebber/UBS in 2002 after a successful career in the wireless communications industry. He served in several executive management positions and played a key role with the start-up and turn-around of several regional and national wireless providers.
Tom, a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ practitioner under the CFP® Board of Standards, has also obtained the Accredited Investment Fiduciary (AIF®) designation and works with high-net-worth individuals and families, endowments, and corporate retirement plans. Tom focuses on client relationships, endowment and corporate retirement plan fiduciary responsibilities, mutual fund manager research & risk analysis, tactical idea generation, and assists with our financial planning services. Tom provides a unique process of organizing the complex financial decisions and documents that are a part of the planning done by successful individuals and families who are concerned about the possible loss of their financial security. Plansponsor & Planadvisor magazine recognized Tom as one of the Top 100 retirement plan advisors in the country. Tom also serves as an NFL Players Association Registered Financial Advisor. He is also a member of the firm’s Director’s Council.
After graduating from Rollins College in 2006, Peterson moved to Martha's Vineyard and began working with Walter Cronkite's Maritime Foundation. In addition, he started his own Marine Consulting business and earned his USCG Captain's license. After leaving the foundation, he worked as a Strategic Business Consultant in the distribution industry where he assisted FedEx and UPS with their needs.
Peterson began his career in the financial services industry in 2011 when he began working with Morgan Stanley, specializing in Fixed Income & Cash Management. In 2017, after 6 successful years with Morgan Stanley, he was recruited to UBS.
Peterson is very generous with his time and serves the community on various non-profit boards. He currently serves on the boards of the Chattanooga Area Food Bank and the Boys and Girls Club. He is also the Treasurer of the Downtown Chattanooga Rotary and on the McCallie School Alumni council. In 2016, he was named as one of Chattanooga's Top 20 under 40.
Jeffery began his investment career as a wealth management specialist at a regional bank in 2013. He was recruited to UBS in 2015 as a Wealth Planning Analyst for the Tennessee & Kentucky region.
In 2017, he joined the team to focus on the comprehensive financial planning needs of our clients. In this role, he supports the team with process oriented and detailed financial planning. He is well versed in charitable giving strategies, employee benefits, as well as estate and multigenerational transfer strategies. Jeffery stays immersed in the continuous learning of the advanced financial planning technology UBS offers to best meet our clients’ individual needs.
In his time with the firm, Jeffery has become a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ under the CFP ® Board of Standards. He also holds the Series 7 and 66 securities licenses as well as life, accident, health and variable contracts insurance licenses.
Prior to joining UBS, he earned his civil engineering degree and worked as an engineering consultant, before transitioning into sales for seven years for top-selling brands in the outdoor industry. Throughout the course of his sales experience, covering the Southeastern U.S. territory, he consulted with many business owners to help them maximize business opportunities.
After earning degrees in both finance and economics, Melissa began her financial services career in 1995 working in the trust department of AmSouth Bancorp for nine years. While there, she served as Assistant Vice President and Trust Officer responsible for client service and client relationships. In April 2012, Melissa was awarded the Certified Financial Planner practitioner™ under the CFP® Board of Standards designation.
She has been working with Scott since 2004 while he was at Smith Barney. She came with Scott and his retired business partner when they joined the Chattanooga office of UBS in April 2009 and continues to be responsible for client service and internal operations.
