Charlton began his career during one of the most tumultuous times in our country's history. Yet, despite the terrible events on 9/11, & the financial crisis of 2008, he has helped clients manage their wealth throughout good times and bad. He joined UBS in 2003 after 4 years at Morgan Stanley and its predecessor firm, Dean Witter. In 2012, he attained the Chartered Retirement Planning Counselor (CRPC®) designation.
Investment professionals with the Chartered Retirement Planning Counselor (CRPC®) designation have completed a six-week, 60-hour course covering more than 10 key topics. The curriculum covers a variety of principles in retirement planning for individuals including: the retirement planning process; sources of retirement income; personal savings; employer-sponsored plans; individual deferred compensation; planning for incapacity, disability and long-term care; determining when to retire; retirement plan distributions; asset management; investment strategy; income taxes and estate planning. In addition to the formal coursework, designees are required to earn 16 continuing education credits every two years to maintain their CRPC designation, which is conferred by the College for Financial Planning.
With his clients, Charlton emphasizes asset allocation, and total portfolio management with a focus on retirement income planning. He also helps them with education funding, and structures for charitable giving and estate planning. Charlton is FINRA-registered, and holds Series 7 and 66 securities licenses as well as licenses for life, accident and health insurance and variable annuities. Currently, his team manages over $150 million in assets for over 100 families.
