The situation
A prospective client was in the process of exiting the private equity firm that he cofounded by selling his GP (general partner) stake. He was referred to Trident Partners because of our extensive experience in advising private equity and hedge fund GPs. His priority was to optimize his balance sheet in order to establish a new private equity firm while simultaneously buying multiple private companies.
Our approach
We conducted a thorough analysis of our new client’s existing balance sheet and position. We then assembled a team that could offer comprehensive coverage for his complex needs. We worked closely with our client to:
Allocate and leverage liquid assets to help him meet the capital requirements for the private investments
Use the SBL to help direct capital to the new private equity firm he was founding
Coordinate with our Advanced Planning team to provide a Strategic Wealth Assessment
Consolidated reporting so that our client could review both sides of his balance sheet
The result: Our ongoing relationship
Because of our comprehensive strategy, our client was able to confidently focus on his next goals: cofounding a new GP private equity fund and helping to achieve capital growth through one-off private investments. Today, our client continues to refer us to both family office and GP prospective clients.
