With over 150 years of combined financial services experience, The Poppo
Group works out of the Park Avenue, New York City location. The group
consists of nine members, and is a fully integrated financial advisory team utilizing
all of our firm’s resources to serve a diverse client base, including ultra high
net worth individuals, qualified retirement plans, foundations, endowments
and corporations.
Our team offers customized financial planning, advisory services, investment
solutions and portfolio management via an open architecture system from
UBS, one of the world’s leading wealth management firms.
Michael has enjoyed a long, successful and distinguished career in the private
wealth management arena. He has spent his entire career at UBS and its predecessor
firms— a total of 37 years. Michael focuses on advising ultra high net worth
individuals, qualified retirement plans, foundations, endowments and corporations.
He was a member of the 2010 – 2012 UBS Renewal Team Advisory Council and a
member of the UBS Institutional Consulting Group. He is former Co-Chairman of
the Financial Advisor Advisory Council (FAAC) and former Chair of UBS FA Banking
subcommittee. Michael is one of only four advisors who have been selected as
members of the UBS 401(k) Investment Committee and UBS Pension Investment
Committee. Michael is an Athletes & Entertainers Consultant at UBS.
Michael has been named to Forbes’s list of America’s Top Wealth Advisors every
year since 2016 and currently ranks 24th in the country. He has been in the top 10
on the Forbes Best-In-State Wealth Advisors list in New York since 2018. He has
been recognized on the Barron’s Top 1,200 Financial Advisors list, where he is
currently in the top 40 in New York, and as one of the Financial Times 400 Top
Financial Advisers in 2015, 2016 and 2018. Michael earned his Certified Investment
Management Analyst® (CIMA®) designation from the Wharton School at the
University of Pennsylvania, has done extensive graduate work at the NYU Stern
School of Business in international finance and is a graduate of the University of
Albany with a B.S. in business administration. He has been a member of the University of
Albany School of Business Dean’s Advisory Board. In 2022, Michael was awarded
the Excellence in Business award from the University of Albany for his success in
the industry and commitment to Albany. He is a Senior Portfolio Manager within
the UBS Portfolio Management Program. He holds the Series 3, 7, 63 and 65
securities licenses, as well as life insurance licenses.
Greg has over 26 years of financial services experience, 15 of which have been with UBS. Greg analyzes, designs and implements financial and wealth planning strategies for clients based on their individual circumstances. Greg has a background in business, investment banking, estate planning and law. He is a Portfolio Manager within the UBS Portfolio Management Program.
Prior to joining UBS, Greg worked for three years at Merrill Lynch Global Private Client as a Vice President, Private Wealth Manager and two years at AXA Advisors, focusing on sophisticated financial and estate planning. In addition, Greg has nine years' experience in law, serving as general counsel in investment banking on Wall Street; two years in a private practice; and three years in the District Attorney's office.
Greg received his J.D. from Seton Hall University School of Law, his B.A. in political science with a minor in economics from Montclair State University, and studied abroad in Tuscany, Italy, at the University of Siena. He subsequently earned his Series 7, 24, 31, 63 and 65 securities licenses, as well as life and health insurance professional licenses. Greg is also one of a small number of UBS Financial Advisors who have earned the designation of Wealth Advisor. As a Wealth Advisor, he is eminently qualified to provide highly personalized wealth management services to his clients. Although he does not currently practice law, he is a member of the American Bar Association and admitted to the Bar in New Jersey and the United States District Court. Greg and his wife, Michele, make their home in Chatham, NJ, with their son, Troy.
Peter joined UBS in June 2000 as a Client Service Associate to a Portfolio Management Program team. He has over 24 years of financial services experience with the confidence and ability to serve a diverse client base. Peter’s responsibilities involve maintaining the discretionary trading platform, real estate financing and financial planning for The Poppo Group clients. He creates customized financial plans to help each client quantify their financial goals and analyze their financial situation. Before becoming a Financial Advisor, Peter was an Assistant Operations Manager, Branch Control Officer, with an Associate Director title. Peter received a B.S. from Emerson College in Boston, MA. He holds the Series 7, 9, 10 and 66 securities licenses as well as life and health insurance licenses.
A New York City native, Peter is active in his community as a board member of the Stanley M. Isaacs Neighborhood Center in Manhattan and President of the New York Croquet Club. He enjoys attending NY Knicks games with his daughter.
Tom has worked in the investment industry for the last 28 years, 22 of which have been with UBS. His primary role with The Poppo Group is to oversee all operational and administrative functions including daily account and managed portfolio monitoring. Prior to joining the team, Tom served eight years as Operations Manager for the Florham Park Complex, where he was responsible for supervising the operations of three different branch locations in New Jersey.
Tom, who was awarded the title of Associate Director for his outstanding service to the firm, holds the Series 7, 9, 10, 63 and 65 securities licenses.
Tom is an import from Toronto, Canada and has lived in various parts of the East Coast before settling down in the New York City area. He is an avid reader and loves to travel; he will always seek out the best places to eat wherever he visits. Tom lives with his wife Jessica and their daughters, Julia and Amelia and their two dogs Essie and Bo in West Orange, NJ.
Joe joined The Poppo Group in 2022 after five years of Wealth Management experience at UBS. He is the team’s lead Alternative Investments analyst and is responsible for managing all business related to such. His role also encompasses operational oversight, equity research, and portfolio analysis & construction
Joe is a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA). He graduated from the Leon Hess Business School at Monmouth University in New Jersey where he received a B.S. in Finance. He holds his Series 7 and 66 securities licenses. Joe resides in Jersey City and is originally from Long Island.
Peter has 5 years of financial services experience, all of which have been spent with The Poppo Group at UBS. He serves as the team analyst for new and existing public third party investment products and solutions, regularly performing suitability and due diligence screening for our clients. Peter is responsible for overseeing all of the team’s customized portfolio reviews and presentations. Building upon his financial planning expertise, Peter obtained the Certified Financial
Planner (CFP®) designation in August of 2021. Having served as an intern with The Poppo Group in 2017, Peter currently oversees the teams premier summer internship program.
Peter graduated magna cum laude from the University at Albany with double majors in Business Administration and Financial Market Regulation with concentrations in Finance and Information Technology Management. holds his Series 7 and 66 securities licenses. Peter resides in Manhattan and is originally from Roslyn, New York.
Michael joined The Poppo Group in 2019 with two years of financial services experience. He works with our clients in constructing, analyzing and reviewing their customized financial plans. He also assists in the group’s equity and alternative investment research. Building upon his financial planning expertise, Michael obtained the Certified Financial Planner (CFP®) designation in August of 2021.
Michael was a member of Trinity’s soccer team and volunteers for several sports-focused nonprofits in New York City, including Good Sports which sponsored him for the 2023 Boston Marathon. In 2024, Michael joined their NYC Emerging Leaders Council which promotes and fundraises for the organization. He also enjoys participating in soccer leagues around in Manhattan and playing golf.
Maggie began her career at UBS as an intern in 2020 and 2021, and joined the Wealth Advice Center at UBS in 2022 where she serviced UBS Clients throughout the United States. In 2023 Maggie joined the Poppo Group where she focuses on managing the daily maintenance and growth of the practice through administration, account maintenance, while also conducting the team communication and marketing. Maggie manages the day-to-day processes, and capabilities, planning events, and supporting the team’s customized portfolio reviews and presentations.
Maggie graduated from the College of the Holy Cross in 2022 with a B.A. in Economics where she played women’s lacrosse. She resides in Manhattan, and is originally from Mahwah, New Jersey.
