As a highly seasoned team, we have guided many owners through the sale of their businesses. We understand the complex nature and the sensitivity of the succession process and will work with you from the critical pre-liquidity planning stages through execution and closing.
We bring extensive experience with strategies that can help you when it’s time to exit a business, from the initial stages of assessing ownership structures to evaluating financing solutions to facilitating the sale to reflect your goals.
We can also help with tax-aware guidance on trusts and philanthropic strategies to serve your wealth preservation and legacy goals.
Portfolio management, diversification and risk control
Recognizing that every client is unique, The Hilton Group has the experience and insight to design customized investment solutions based on individual needs and goals. They have navigated every type of market. The key is to stay the course, focus on your goals and minimize distracting investment noise.
Helping to protect your assets for the long-term is our priority. Our team is always seeking better ways to manage volatility and earn your confidence in our ability to execute the right strategy for your needs and comfort. Our portfolio management process follows these five concepts for investing in any market:
1. Leverage diversification to help reduce risk
We believe truly diversified investors—those who invest across a number of different asset classes—can lower their risk, without necessarily sacrificing return.
2. Consider a lower volatility approach
For two investment portfolios with the same average or arithmetic return, the portfolio with less volatility will likely have a greater compound rate of return. We believe that a lower volatility approach can be more effective in meeting your objectives over time.
3. Incorporate global opportunities to help enhance returns
The price movements between international and U.S. asset classes are often dissimilar, so investing in both increases your portfolio’s diversification and helps reduce overall risk.
4. Maintain a disciplined approach in difficult markets
The key to navigating the ever-changing market environment is to stay focused on your goals, both long term and short term.
5. Design an efficient portfolio
Asset allocation and diversification can help stabilize portfolio performance during market swings. It's a "slow and steady" process but keep in mind the story of the "tortoise and the hare."

The Portfolio Management Program (PMP) is a wrap fee advisory program in which our Financial Advisors manage client accounts on a discretionary basis. PMP is designed for clients who (i) want to delegate portfolio management discretion to their Financial Advisor; (ii) are looking to implement a medium to long-term investment plan; and (iii) prefer the consistency of fee-based pricing.
PMP is not appropriate for clients who: (i) want to maintain trading control over their account; (ii) seek a short-term investment; (iii) want to maintain consistently high levels of cash, money market funds, or invest primarily in no-load mutual funds; (iv) want to maintain highly concentrated positions that will not be sold regardless of market conditions; or (v) who anticipate significant withdrawals from the account.
Asset allocation and diversification does not guarantee a profit or protect against loss in a declining financial market.
The decision to exit your business is rarely simple and can often take up to five years or longer. In our decades of experience helping business owners and entrepreneurs exit their companies, we’ve come to believe it’s never too early to start.
Once you’ve made your decision to sell, we can work with you to build a strategic plan to guide you each step of the selling process. Our experience and knowledge can help you think through important estate planning considerations that can impact your long-term goals and family post-sale, including:
