Franklin sets the tone for the entire team with his enduring moral compass and continually striving for excellence both in and out of the office. Franklin, who entered the financial services industry with Alex Brown & Sons in 1977, has successfully managed his client’s wealth and futures through 15 corrections and four recessions. Franklin attributes his success and longevity in the business to his ability to successfully develop and execute customized solutions tailored specifically for each client’s individual needs and objectives. What further separates Franklin as a trusted advisor is his proven ability to clarify and solve his client’s complex challenges using concepts and language that are clear and concise giving them complete peace of mind.
Franklin’s expertise in identifying and managing risk runs deep. This was highlighted most recently by his invitation and acceptance into the exclusive Private Wealth Management division of UBS. Since joining UBS in 2002 and becoming a designated UBS Private Wealth Advisor in 2015, Franklin continues to integrate sophisticated risk management principals into the client-focused, planning-based practice he has built. Franklin believes so strongly in his investment philosophy that his own portfolio reflects the same principles and managers he recommends to his clients.

How can I invest in volatile markets?
Given complex economic and market forces at work today, we practice conservative, tax-efficient portfolio management as a rule.
An important part of any wealth management process is having knowledgeable, active investment manager oversight. Our role as Senior Portfolio Managers within the UBS Portfolio Management Program allows us to create truly customized portfolios—not simply generic models. Custom investment solutions also allow us to respond to changing market conditions. Experience has taught us to manage risk first. We diversify your portfolio beyond stocks and bonds to help ensure your investments are generating appropriate income for your needs and comfort level.
Although each client is unique, our recommendations generally focus on preserving capital by diversifying sources of returns, which can help lower volatility.
The Portfolio Management Program (PMP) is a wrap fee advisory program in which our Financial Advisors manage client accounts on a discretionary basis. PMP is designed for clients who (i) want to delegate portfolio management discretion to their Financial Advisor; (ii) are looking to implement a medium to long-term investment plan; and (iii) prefer the consistency of fee-based pricing.
PMP is not appropriate for clients who: (i) want to maintain trading control over their account; (ii) seek a short-term investment; (iii) want to maintain consistently high levels of cash, money market funds, or invest primarily in no-load mutual funds; (iv) want to maintain highly concentrated positions that will not be sold regardless of market conditions; or (v) who anticipate significant withdrawals from the account.
Will my family and legacy be protected when I’m gone?
As a multigenerational team ourselves, we have an understanding of the delicate dynamics around wealth, inheritance and legacy planning that helps us create the right wealth transfer strategy for your family.
Whether your goal is to protect your assets or business, reduce your estate tax exposure or transfer wealth to your heirs, we collaborate with you, your trusted tax and legal advisors and estate attorney to ensure your plan addresses your short- and long-term goals and your family commitments. We can also help you engage your loved ones in the legacy planning conversation, while providing education and information to help prepare them for carrying on your legacy. Our conversations may include:
- Estate liquidity planning
- Estate tax management
- Revocable Trust planning
- Grantor Retained Annuity Trusts (GRATs)
- Annual exclusion giving
- Generation-skipping transfer tax planning
- Family meetings
- Charitable giving
- Asset protection planning
Is my organization on track to meet our funding goals?
Fiduciary liability is a top concern for our endowment clients. That’s why we take the time to fully understand your organization’s unique financial situation and deliver an investment plan that fits with your needs and long-term goals.
Similar to managing wealth for successful families, earning your trust and that of your investment committee will help us build consensus that ultimately can help us achieve your goals. Accountability and transparency guide our decision-making process as we work to:
- Formalize and implement an investment policy statement
- Review the investment process and maintain appropriate documentation
- Provide ongoing monitoring and reporting
