Mike began his career in the financial industry in 1993 starting with Merrill Lynch and now proudly with UBS.  He has dedicated himself for over 30 years to understanding the priorities of both highly affluent families and Institutional relationships.

Mike is a Managing Director and Portfolio Manager.  His area of expertise includes both High Net Worth Family legacy planning needs and Institutional non-profit and corporate financial needs.  Utilizing his Private Wealth designation, he works with clients to identify their goals and needs, including; asset allocation, education funding, retirement income planning, tax-minimization strategies and estate-planning services.  He then commits himself to crafting a financial strategy designed to help clients pursue desired outcomes, while building, managing and preserving their wealth for current and future generations. With his Institutional Consulting designation, he specializes in developing plans for Endowments and Corporations.  With in depth experience in non-profit financial management Mike helps endowments through the entire process of developing an IPS to investments and ongoing board education.  His expertise can be summed up with getting to know and understand the needs of clients and assisting to build a plan to achieve the goals desired outcomes. 

Mike holds both his Certified Private Wealth Advisor® and Certified Investment Management Analyst® awarded by the Investments & Wealth Institute™.  He also holds the Chartered Retirement Planning Counselor® designation, awarded by The College for Financial Planning Institutes Corp.  He holds the Series 7, 9, 10, 31, 63 and 65 FINRA registrations.  He is a graduate of the University of South Carolina; he and his family are very active in community services, local and national charities.

Ladd  concentrates on helping high-net-worth families and businesses pursue their long-term financial goals. His focus is on the team’s goal tracking system and portfolio management. Ladd is a specially qualified Senior Portfolio Manager who, in addition to providing traditional advice and guidance, can help clients pursue their objectives by building and managing his own personalized or defined strategies, which may incorporate individual stocks and bonds, model portfolios, and third-party investment strategies. Senior Portfolio Managers are provided a high degree of flexibility in constructing portfolios and selecting securities. When servicing clients through the Firm’s Investment Advisory Program, a Senior Portfolio Manager may manage his strategies on a discretionary basis. After meeting certain additional requirements, a Senior Portfolio Manager may use his own strategies to manage the assets of clients.

Ladd holds Chartered Financial Analyst® (CFA®) and Certified Investment Management Analyst® (CIMA®) designations. He earned his bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from the University of South Carolina and an MBA from the University of South Carolina. He is active in his church and enjoys working out with friends. He and his wife, Laurie, live in Northeast Columbia and have two children, Reese and Caroline.

Shufy joined UBS in the summer of 2023.  He began his financial services career in 1980 spending five years in the banking industry before joining Merrill Lynch Wealth Management in 1986. He has more than 37 years of experience providing financial and wealth management services. His primary areas of focus are wealth management, retirement strategies, portfolio strategies and assistance in securities selection. He works with individuals, families, small businesses and foundations, assisting them in the pursuit of long-term financial and life goals. He works primarily with high-net-worth individuals and couples who are new to the wealth management process.

Shufy is a past member of The Columbia Sertoma, The Downtown Sertoma,  and Capital Rotary civic clubs. He previously served on the Baptist Hospital Cancer Board, The United Way of the Midlands Tocqueville Planned Giving Committee, and is currently serving as a board member for 721 Ministries.

 Formerly an avid runner, Shufy completed six marathons including Chicago, New York and Boston. He now enjoys shorter runs, golf with friends and family and traveling. He and his wife Kay have two grown sons, Nick and Marshall, daughter in law Brigid and grandson Ford. Kay and Shufy split their time between Columbia and Charleston, SC.

A native of Knoxville, Tennessee, John F. McCabe has lived in Columbia, South Carolina for nearly 40 years and is a Wealth Management Advisor and Senior Vice President as a founding member of TCG & Associates of UBS Financial Services.  When not managing portfolios and helping clients achieve life goals, John spends his time serving on many and various historical and civic organizations, as well as spending time with his wife, Mandy Waites McCabe and their three sons, John Jr, Mitchell, and Charles.

John has served as President of the AC Flora High School Athletic Booster Club, on The Sigma Alpha Epsilon Alumni Commission, and Chair of the Francis Marion Memorial Project in Washington, D.C, is the South Carolina Representative of The River Alliance Board of Directors, and is a former Deacon at Eastminster Presbyterian Church.

He is past chairman of the board of the South Carolina State Museum Foundation, past president of the Palmetto Baseball League, the past president of the Colonel Thomas Taylor Chapter of the South Carolina Society of the Sons of the American Revolution, is Secretary of The Board of Governors of The Palmetto Club, the Chair of The South Carolina State Museum Commission, on the Board of the South Carolina Governor’s Mansion Foundation, Chair of The Partisan Society of The Congaree, the Saint Andrew’s Society of Columbia, and The South Carolina Historical Society Board of Managers.

John is a graduate of the University of Tennessee with a bachelor’s degree in English Literature and is currently pursuing his Master of Arts in United States History at the University of South Carolina.

Brent began his career 2001 and is earned the CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™, CFP® certification, awarded by the Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards, Inc. His primary role is assisting clients in defining their financial priorities and offering strategies to help them pursue their goals. He also focuses on liability management, corporate retirement services and the allocation of initial public offerings for the Columbia office.

Brent earned his bachelor’s degree in management and marketing from the University of South Carolina, where he was captain of the men’s golf team. Brent and his wife, Betsy, have two kids, Price and Kate.

Tom’s primary duties for the team include working with high-net-worth individuals and corporate retirement programs in the creation and implementation of portfolios geared toward their individual goals. Tom oversees the mutual fund platform utilized by TCG & Associates and is responsible for analyzing fund performance and allocation changes. In addition, he is in charge of the analysis and recommendation of specific structured products. Tom graduated from the University of South Carolina with a bachelor’s degree in sociology. He and his wife, Beverly, live in Columbia.

A Citadel Alumni educated in Political Science, William Velasco started his career with in Wealth Management in 2014. He began working with Merrill Lynch in the large corporate equity and retirement plan field with Fortune 500 companies in Atlanta, Georgia before relocating and continuing to building his career in his hometown Columbia, South Carolina. William went on to earn his Chartered Retirement Planning Counselor®℠, CRPC®, and Certified Exit Planning Advisor® CEPA® designations. 

William has been named to Forbes/SHOOK “America’s Top Next-Generation Wealth Advisors” list in 2018(Published on July 25, 2018. Rankings based on data as of March 31, 2018)* as well as named to Forbes “Best-in-State Next-Generation Wealth Advisors” list in 2019 (Published on September 4, 2019. Rankings based on data as of March 31, 2019)*, his achievements and experience allows him to assist clients to identify their primary financial goals and needs. Paula joined UBS in the summer of 2023. Prior to joining, she was a Merrill Banking Advisor from Bank of America, advising clients on lending and liquidity strategies before transitioning into the Financial Advisor role with TCG& Associates.

Paula is a graduate of the University of South Carolina Aiken with a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Business Management, Magna Cum Laude.  Paula earned her Masters of Business Administration from USC in June 2017.  Paula focuses on Wealth Management strategies to help her clients meet their financial goals.  Paula holds the CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™, CFP® certification and the Certified Divorce Financial Analyst®, CDFA® certification.

Paula is passionate about educating women and has created a Women’s Educational Series focusing on different topics important to women, including wealth planning, health and wellness and estate planning services.

Paula resides in Columbia, SC with her children Cody, Elizabeth and Samuel. She is very active in her community through volunteer activities with Special Olympics, Junior Achievement, Transitions Homeless Shelter, Boys and Girls Club, and Harvest Hope Food Bank and board service with the South Carolina Philharmonic. She serves as a liaison for the Bank of America Community Volunteers Committee. In her spare time she enjoys reading, Pure Barre workout classes, visiting the beach and spending time with friends and family.

Rachel considers herself a problem-solver and has demonstrated a talent for interacting well with clients. When timely answers are needed on account questions, Rachel is often the first stop for advisors and clients. Rachel currently lives in Lexington, South Carolina with her husband Michael, her two sons, Walker and Beau, and her two dogs. She enjoys traveling, the beach, and cheering on the USC Gamecocks.

Harris Joined the TCG and associates team in August of 2022 with one year of experience in the financial industry with Vanguard. Harris is a graduate of the Darla Moore School of business where he majored in Finance and data analytics. Harris looks forward to serving the clients of our team with a proactive attitude, great communication skills, and attention to detail. Outside of work, you can catch Harris on the lake or at the golf course. Harris resides in Columbia.

With over a decade of experience in banking and financial services, Cindy brought her wealth of knowledge to TCG & Associates in August 2022, stepping into the role of Senior Client Associate. Her background in banking enriches her ability to make a substantial difference for her clients and team members.

Zach joined the TCG & Associates team in August of 2021. As the team’s investment analyst, Zach prioritizes helping clients develop potential solutions and providing investment guidance for individuals, families, businesses, foundations, and endowments by understanding their short- and long-term financial objectives. Zach focuses on offering a comprehensive approach to managing wealth that begins with listening to a client's needs and helps to ensure every potential solution is grounded in understanding what each client wants to achieve. He focuses on investment analysis, investment manager research, and portfolio construction.

Zach holds the Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst (CAIA®) designation. He earned both a bachelor's degree and a master's degree in Criminology & Criminal Justice from the University of South Carolina, graduating with honors from the South Carolina Honors College. An avid sports fan, he loves to support all Gamecock athletics programs, and can usually be found reading a good book or enjoying the local coffee shop scene in his free time. He and his wife, Calli, live in Lexington with their dog, Lilo.

Amy began her career in financial services in 1997 in Cleveland, Ohio. She and her husband, Steve, moved to St. Thomas, USVI in 2008 and she took time off to raise her two children.  Amy joined the TCG & Associates team in 2020. She has a bachelor’s degree in finance, a master’s degree in education, and holds the Chartered Retirement Planning Counselor® (CRPC®) designation. As a Relationship Manager, Amy handles every aspect of the client experience from planning to implementation. She prides herself on anticipating clients’ needs and offering strategies to accomplish their goals. Amy and her family live on Lake Murray and you will find her on the water in her spare time.

Chance joined the TCG & Associates team in November of 2022 with three years of experience in the financial services industry. Chance is a graduate of the University of South Carolina where he majored in Sport and Entertainment Management. He currently holds the Chartered Retirement Planning Counselor® designation. As a Senior Wealth Strategy Associate, Chance aims to make every conversation and interaction meaningful and enjoyable while doing everything he can to resolve and fulfill any client concerns, needs or requests in a timely and efficient manner.

Outside of work, Chance is an avid college football fan and will spend most Saturdays in the fall tailgating with his friends and family to watch their beloved Gamecocks play. Chance and his wife, Anna, also love to travel and frequently visit Disney World and Edisto Beach. Chance and Anna welcomed their baby girl, Ramsey Jane, in August 2023. They live in Columbia with their dog, Boris.
