    John started his career as a Financial Advisor with Merrill Lynch in 1986. John worked for Merrill Lynch in Denver for 10 years before moving to Fort Collins in 1996 when he was promoted to branch manager and given the task of establishing the local Merrill Lynch office. His responsibilities as branch manager included managing the day to day functions of the office, recruiting and training quality advisors and support staff while also taking care of a large client base. While at Merrill Lynch John had the good fortune and opportunity to hire John McLaurin as a Financial Advisor. Shortly thereafter the two Johns joined forces and have been partners since. John and John left Merrill Lynch in 2002 to join UBS where they work with 200 families with assets over 200 million dollars.

    John is a graduate of the University of North Dakota where he majored in Aviation Administration. After graduation John spent a brief time in the US Navy as an aviation officer candidate at AOCS-NAS Pensacola, FL. John lives in Fort Collins with his wife and their three boys, John III, Aaron, and James.

        John has been a Financial Advisor since 1996. He works with over 200 families, managing $200 million of their assets, to help them plan and fund their financial goals. John utilizes technical research and asset allocation tools to construct and manage portfolios designed to take on risk when it has the potential to pay off, and reduce risk when it does not. He also builds bond ladders to help provide a buffer against unexpected market moves, helping to manage cash needs for clients through all types of market cycles.

        Prior to working as a Financial Advisor, John was a Contract Specialist with the Defense Logistics Agency, negotiating fuel contracts for the government. John lives in Berthoud, CO with his wife, Benita, and their two children, Jessica and John Mark.

              A Colorado native, Nate earned his bachelor’s degree in finance with a minor in entrepreneurship from Villanova University in 2007, where he was a member of the varsity baseball team in the Big East Conference.  He also studied in the Executive Education Program at Columbia Business School in New York City, and holds both the CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ certification and Accredited Wealth Management Advisor designation.

              Nate spent the first ten years of his career in global capital markets, in both San Francisco and New York City, helping companies navigate the capital formation process and providing liquidity to private equity firms, institutional investors and individuals.  While at Deutsche Bank he worked on transactions across the world, including initial public offerings for Alibaba, Facebook, Snapchat, Hilton, General Motors, and numerous other small and mid-cap companies.  He also raised capital for AIG, AIA, SoftBank, and facilitated warrant auctions for the U.S. Treasury.  In 2018, Nate decided to transition to wealth management and focus on an opportunity for a more impactful and rewarding career.

              Nate’s passion and focus is on helping individuals and families achieve their financial and life goals, and this becomes clear from the moment he begins working with each client.  As a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ professional, Nate utilizes a personalized process as the basis for making financial decisions and creating individually tailored investment strategies.  Whether it is a young professional just starting out, a couple on the verge of retirement, or a business owner with a major financial decision to make, Nate believes every situation is unique, and therefore requires the personal touch of the right wealth management partner.

              Nate lives in Broomfield, CO with his wife Marisa and their two daughters, Vivian and Juliet.  He is a major sports fan, enjoys reading about financial and world history, and looks forward to teaching his daughters how to ski.

                Shannon has been in the financial services industry since 1988, starting as a wire operator on an Equity Trading Desk in Newport Beach, CA. She quickly advanced to a position as a NASDAQ Market Maker and Institutional Trader. In 2005 she decided to move to Fort Collins, CO where she lives with her son, Kevin, and her dog, Seamus.

                Shannon joined UBS Financial and The Raben/McLaurin Team in 2012 where she is dedicated to providing excellent operational and administrative support to both clients and Financial Advisors. She holds Series 7, 55, and 66 securities licenses. Shannon is an avid reader and enjoys spending time outdoors camping and hiking.
