Matt and his team strive to deliver a client experience that offers both the intimacy of a boutique and the refined capabilities of a global institution. New clients must have a minimum net worth of $25mm.
Matt began his career as a Financial Analyst in the Investment Manager Research and Analysis Division of Merrill Lynch. In this capacity, he advised a prestigious client base ranging from individual members of the Forbes 400 to world-renowned foundations, endowments and pension plans. He has experience in investment management, capital markets transactions and concentrated stock strategies.

He prides himself on helping families navigate the challenges and opportunities that accompany substantial wealth. Matt has studied at the Money, Meaning and Choice Institute (MMCI) and also studied Bowen Family Systems Theory with Kathy Wiseman whom he considers a friend and mentor. Prior to joining UBS, Shawn spent 11 years as a Financial Analyst and Portfolio Manager at Merrill Lynch. This process is entirely bespoke, with each portfolio reflecting the unique needs and values of each individual client. Shawn focuses on managing risk through diversification, macroeconomic research, and manager due diligence. His responsibilities also include optimizing tax efficient strategies and executing both tactical and strategic trades. Stephanie leads the family advisory practice for the team and supports clients in navigating the complexities that come with substantial wealth. Her work is driven by the fact that an overwhelming majority of the time, family wealth disappears after just three generations (Collier; Wealth in Families; Harvard University Press). Steph helps clients implement the best practices of those families who successfully transition wealth inter-generationally. This process is tailored to each family, with a focus on communication and education. Family meetings, values retreats, family and philanthropic mission statements, and financial education are all a part of the ongoing and empowering experience that Steph creates. She is currently studying Family Systems Theory under Kathy Wiseman at a think tank in Washington DC. Through this experience, Steph designed the team’s “What Matters Most Framework” which guides families in their decision making. She developed the What Matters Most (“WMM”) card sort exercise to help ultra-high net worth families identify what is most important to them. This unique tool has received industry wide recognition. WMM cards are used by many financial institutions including the UBS Family Advisory and Philanthropy Services team, whom Steph has trained extensively. She has access to a global network of subject matter experts who specialize in the nuances of wealth in families. Steph is a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ and received her BS in Finance with minors in Economics and Psychology from Ramapo College of New Jersey. A road map to help facilitate the process
Often, the process of selling a business is unknown to the business owner. This may leave them vulnerable to making significant mistakes. This brochure may serve as a general road map for facilitating the sale of a closely held business.
How do families achieve success?
When advising financially successful families, we often get asked, “How can we ensure our family is successful?” The particulars of desired success can be refined differently from family to family, but what our clients are really asking is how they can sustain and grow their resources over time—in many cases for generations to come.
A framework to help athletes and entertainers prepare for a meaningful second career
We are pleased to present to you our largest Global Family Office Report to date. The 2024 study brings together the insights of 320 single family offices across seven regions of the world. Representing families with an average net worth of USD 2.6 billion and covering over USD 600 billion of wealth, it confirms the report as the most comprehensive analysis of this influential group of investors.
What does the future hold for global wealth?
The answer is encouraging. Our analysis of over 50 key markets in this year’s Global Wealth Report shows the world is getting progressively richer across all wealth segments. And the dip we saw in global wealth in 2022 appears to have been just a blip. Wealth’s already bounced back – in line with the long-term trend we’ve identified.
The UBS Billionaire Report charts the progress of the wealthiest in society, along with the unique challenges and opportunities they face. In the recent past they have benefited from a long period of low interest rates and navigated the uncertainties of the Covid-19 pandemic. Now they are adapting to a time of rapid change brought by technological transformation and the drive for decarbonization.
Partnering with resources across UBS, including UBS Family Office Solutions as well as our global investment bank, we integrate institutional-level business solutions for family offices. From family governance to business transition, we help bridge the generations to preserve wealth, seize opportunity and create continuity.
Talking about future financial responsibility can be an emotional and challenging topic for families. Whether you’re discussing an inheritance, insurance, a business transition or wealth transfer, an open, honest discussion among family members makes the process more rewarding for everyone. Let us show you how.
But the financial stakes of your decisions are getting higher. Today, your financial situation is more complex and you’re looking at how to grow and safeguard your assets. No matter what's happening in the markets, at home or throughout the world, we're with you and your family.
