John splits his time between Bethesda, and Palm Beach, FL. For more than 35 years, John Young has offered his clients just two products: advice and experience. In his high school days, he advised the homeowners of Potomac, MD on how to design and maintain their yards. His experience with his parents’ lawn (and his access to his Dad’s tractor at a very attractive rate) made him quite successful. He walked away at a young age with a clear understanding of the responsibility it takes to run your own business.
In the years that followed, John honed his professional experience; first by earning a B.S. in economics from the University of Maryland (and the nickname "J.Y." -- Go Terps!) and later as a Financial Advisor at Legg Mason. He witnessed the "internet run up", watching the markets rise effortlessly day after day, and was in the process of obtaining his Certified Financial Planner designation when the bubble burst in 2000. This reaffirmed his belief that the financial planning process is critical to long term financial success of his clients.
Today, John still offers just two products: advice and experience. Guided by his belief that the future belongs to those who prepare for it, he calls upon his specialty in financial planning to work with successful people on their important goals; educating their children, retiring with a lifestyle that wealth permits, and passing along their estate as tax efficiently as possible. John always tries to place himself in his client's shoes, and truly believes that he succeeds only when his clients succeed. To this day, John has never lost sight of that maxim.
His oldest daughter works for a tech firm in Tysons, while the youngest attends Georgetown. When not at work or with family, he can be found on the golf course, captaining his platform tennis team at Congressional C.C. or playing croquet at the NCC in West Palm.
