In 2010, John was named to the prestigious UBS Directors Council. He is also a member of the Clearwater Lions Club and a past president. John coached Little League and high school baseball for over 20 years . He also enjoys hunting, fishing, and gardening. John and his wife Linda have three children: John Jr., DeeAnn, and James

The US government’s tariffs are dominating headlines. It remains unclear how severely the recently announced tariffs will impact Switzerland. At the same time, equities have reached new all-time highs. However, risks have not yet been eliminated, and investors should expect market volatility in the near future. This volatility could be mitigated with a diversified portfolio. While President Trump may command the headlines, we believe the future belongs to transformative innovations, such as artificial intelligence. We see any potential setback in equity markets as an opportunity to increase exposure to companies that are leaders in these innovations.

US President Trump has repeatedly criticized the Federal Reserve for taking too long to cut rates, raising concerns about Fed independence. A direct challenge to Fed autonomy could add to the risk premium on US Treasuries and undermine confidence in the US dollar. But our view is that the president is unlikely to take this risk. We expect Fed policy to be guided primarily by labor market and inflation data, leading to around 100 basis points of easing by June 2026.
