Senior Vice President–Wealth Management
Financial Advisor
Ellen Rankin is a Financial Advisor specializing in comprehensive wealth management for high-net-worth individuals and multi-generational families. She advises clients on sophisticated investment strategies and wealth planning structures designed to support long-term capital preservation and successful generational transitions.
Her practice focuses on integrating investment management with broader estate and liquidity planning considerations. Ellen works closely with clients’ independent legal and tax advisors to help ensure strategies are aligned, coordinated, and executed thoughtfully. She is particularly experienced in advising families navigating complex structures, concentrated positions, and the financial dynamics that accompany significant generational wealth.
Ellen’s approach emphasizes stewardship. Beyond managing assets, she helps families think intentionally about governance, communication, and preparing rising generations for responsibility. Her work is grounded in the belief that preserving wealth requires both technical rigor and disciplined decision-making across decades.
Prior to entering private wealth management, Ellen worked in global structured derivatives at Credit Suisse, where she developed institutional-level expertise in complex financial instruments and risk analysis. She brings that analytical depth to her clients, translating complexity into clear strategic direction.
Ellen earned her MBA from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a concentration in investment management and holds a Bachelor’s degree in Neuroscience from Colgate University. She is a Certified Exit Planning Advisor® (CEPA®) and Certified Private Wealth Advisor® (CPWA®).
A Charlotte native, Ellen remains actively engaged in her community through leadership and involvement in philanthropic initiatives focused on education, family services, and economic opportunity. Outside of her professional work, she enjoys traveling and playing golf.
