Who We Service and Why

Who: Executives at publicly-traded companies.

Why: Employees at public companies accumulate a substantial amount of their net worth in the form of company stock and/or stock options resulting in a portfolio concentration. This concentration becomes more acute as compensation increases over time. Congruently, portfolio diversification may become more crucial as an employee approaches the capital preservation phase of life.

We are experienced in managing concentrated positions, which may include hedging strategies, gifting strategies and/or divesting out of the company stock into a diversified portfolio.

Who: Professional Athletes

Why: Similar to corporate executives, professional athletes have a unique compensation profile. Professional athletes may have a smaller window of substantial earnings potential than other professionals. For example, some athletic careers can last on average 3-5 years, whereas a doctor can work for 30 years. Additionally, professional sports contracts have become increasingly complex and lucrative in recent years. Managing the large amounts of money associated with these contracts may be very difficult for athletes from a technical perspective, as well as a lifestyle perspective. We have found that guidance in how to manage cash flow needs, budgets and investments, as well as the lifestyle changes that come with sudden inflows of wealth, has become increasingly valuable. A Sports Illustrated article published in March 2009 indicated that approximately 8 out of 10 professional athletes have gone bankrupt or suffered catastrophic financial hardships within 2-3 years of their retirement.

Who: High Net Worth Households

Why: Over the past decade we've seen some of the most volatile capital markets activity in history. Heightened volatility yields heightened emotions, which can undermine the true value of a financial plan. From the Tech Boom and Bust to 9/11, from the Debt Crisis to the Flash Crash, we have been successful in helping our clients navigate through uncertain times through our disciplined approach to asset allocation.

With over 15 years experience, our team can address your circumstances in achieving your goals and work in conjunction with your other trusted advisors to establish a unified entity with your best interests in mind. Through the UBS Wealth Management Platform we are able to access specialists in matters of Estate Planning, Retirement Planning, Charitable Planning, Insurance and Lending to accommodate the most complex financial situations. Ultimately, our goal and passion is to provide a holistic wealth management experience to tackle the financial uncertainties of your future.
