Senior Vice President–Wealth Management
Financial Advisor
As a financial advisor to affluent individuals and families, Tim Reath is driven by a singular personal experience and a commitment to ensuring that his client are never faced with a similar situation. Tim was 18 when his father passed away unexpectedly. The sadness and loss that one typically feels with the death of a close family member, however, were largely overshadowed by the stress and angst he and his mother faced due to the fact that his father did not properly organize his affairs. His mother didn’t know who held the mortgage, who handled the car insurance or even who the family accountant was. Tim’s father had no transition plan-no insurance, no will, no estate plan-to help provide for his family.
Accordingly, Tim centers his work with clients around three core concepts: Organizing, Allocating and Transitioning. Through in-depth financial planning, Tim helps his clients organize their resources and identify their current needs and future goals. By leveraging the vast resources of the worlds largest wealth management firm, Tim and his team are able to appropriately allocate clients assets and liabilities to help them meet their objectives. Finally, Tim works closely with his clients to ensure that their wishes and their families futures are protected through carefully planned transition of wealth.
Prior to joining Morgan Stanley in 2002, and later UBS in 2009, Tim spent eight years in the maritime industry. As a trusted advisor to commercial ship charterers and owners, Tim gained a global view of economics and business. He applies the critical decision making skills, focus on efficiency and unwavering worth ethic he gained over the years as a Port Manager to his wealth management practice today.
He currently lives in Annapolis, MD with his wife and 3 children. When Tim is not helping his clients, he enjoys spending time with his family, boating, kite boarding, skiing, mountain biking, golfing, ice hockey and playing pickle ball.
