Helping you pursue what really matters

Proud to be designated a UBS “Wealth Advisor”

Meeting with presenter

The Bixler-Gustin Financial Group is an investment team of two experienced female Wealth Advisors in the Downtown San Diego office of UBS Financial Services Inc. Sally Bixler, of Bixler Wealth Partners, and Christina Gustin, a member of RKG Wealth Management, formed their new partnership to answer the call from women investors who want to work with women advisors. Current research indicates that women invest and think about investing differently than their male counterparts. Women are value-focused and like to take a planning-based approach to their decisions. This is precisely how Sally and Christina work with each new client. They begin by seeking to fully understand what is important to each client. Then they work to assist the client in articulating their financial goals through honest dialogue that results in the presentation of a formal financial plan that provides a clear path towards meeting those goals. Taking the time to educate their clients about how the assets and allocations are used and why, is essential to Sally and Christina's process. They want each client to be comfortable being part of the investing process through understanding and embracing their portfolio and planning goals.

In 2017, Sally and Christina initiated a series of educational events for women, about women called "What Women Need to Know." This ongoing program focuses on timely topics for the women of today who may be facing issues like caring for a spouse with Alzheimer's, aging parents, or the need for a will or trust, to name a few. They also feature subjects including unique attributes of female leadership and effective and meaningful community engagement. The presenters at these gratis events are all working professionals within the local community. Sally and Christina have found that women like to share experiences and knowledge with each other and this series offers women an open environment and an opportunity to learn, ask questions, and to engage with other women who share similar concerns.

With more than 30 years of experience in the financial services industry as both an advisor and as a manager, Sally has a well-honed investment philosophy which she brings to her high-net-worth clients and nonprofit organizations. In 2007, she was recognized for her more than forty years of volunteerism and was named "A Woman of Dedication" by the Salvation Army. This distinctive honor capped decades of leadership in development and fundraising with some of San Diego’s most well-known organizations including the Sharp-Coronado Hospital Foundation, St. Paul’s Senior Homes & Services Foundation, the Museum of Photographic Arts and Coronado Rotary.

Sally was Vice Chair of the Point Loma Association from 2014-2015 and is still an active member. She was a member of the Investment Committee for St. Paul’s for 8 years and served as a Director on the St. Paul’s board where she chaired both the fundraising and gala committees. For six years she was a Trustee and Treasurer of the Museum of Photographic Arts. Sally founded the Imperial Beach Chili & Jazz Festival Association, a non-profit organization that funded youth programs in the South Bay and served as Past Chairman for the Imperial Beach Community Clinic.  Her focus with these organizations was always fundraising and planned giving.

Prior to joining UBS in 2010, Sally was a Financial Advisor at Merrill Lynch for twelve years. She managed the investment program for Peninsula Bank before it was sold to US Bank and was an Investment Officer for six years at San Diego Trust & Savings Bank. She has earned the designation of Certified Retirement Planning Counselor (CRPC®) from the College of Financial Planning.  Sally is a graduate of the University of Oregon and has been in the securities industry since 1983.  She works with husband, Mike, on the Bixler Wealth Partners team.

As a Financial Advisor for 34 years, Sally's focus is to help women make sound investment choices that fit their life and lifestyle. Finding the right investment approach is key to building confidence in women who strive to improve their financial well-being.
