In a business that is both humbling and exciting, it's gratifying when clients periodically comment that our work together has made a positive impact on their financial future. The experience, knowledge and battle scars that accrue since one starts as an investment advisor are necessary requisites for successful long-term client relationships.
My career began in Los Angeles shortly after college, eventually moving to Phoenix strictly as a lifestyle decision. My formal education was as an Economics major at Grinnell College and an MBA (honors) from the University of Illinois. UBS presented a flattering offer to join them in August, 2006 and it has been a successful union ever since. I'm extremely pleased that Tyson Tibshraeny decided to recently join and complement my practice. He possesses exceptional financial planning skills, has similar core investment philosophies and is integral to my longer term succession plans.
Professionally I've been selected for UBS' Directors Council consecutively for the last nine years and received similar recognition from my prior employer, Smith Barney. Both firms nominated me in the past for Barron's list of top 400 U.S. financial advisors. I've done guest lectures on portfolio management at the Stanford and University of Arizona business schools. These included discussions on option strategies to increase investor cash flow.
Giving back to the community has always been a personal priority. To that end, I served as president of Grinnell's southern California alumni association in LA and recently concluded a 12-year term on the John C. Lincoln Health network board. I've been active for over 20 years on Phoenix hospital boards, typically on the finance, endowment, development and planning committees. I performed similar roles for Temple Solel's board and continue to be an active member within the community. Currently, I also serve on the Fan Advisory Council for the Phoenix Suns basketball team.
The best ideas for successful wealth management
Tyson and his Biltmore team continually strive to deliver the best ideas for successful wealth and investment management for their UHNW clients, based on their expertise and experience. In Tyson’s case, those ideas are borne of over 30 years with UBS and its predecessor, Paine Webber, coupled with his industry designations as a Certified Investment Management Analyst® (CIMA®) and a Chartered Retirement Plans SpecialistSM (CRPS®).
Tyson is guided by the philosophy that it is important to be honest with clients and their families at all times. His advice is highly personalized, tailored to individual cash flow needs, risk tolerances and growth objectives. He started out in the financial services industry as a futures registered representative and although no longer involved in that part of the business, the experience gave him a thorough understanding of the day to day functioning of public markets. His focus is on choosing the best investment options for long-term growth as well as strategies designed to create incremental cash flow for clients needing more retirement income.
Credentials that build confidence
– Senior Portfolio Manager
– Certified Investment Management Analyst® (CIMA®)
– Chartered Retirement Plans SpecialistSM (CRPS®)
