Wealth advice that helps inspire confidence

Generational Family on Beach

Charlie Munger, Vice Chairman of Berkshire Hathaway, has been quoted as saying "People who think investing is easy are stupid." While we may not agree with Mr. Munger's choice of words, we do believe investing is challenging. It requires thoughtful action coupled with emotional endurance.

We believe investors who understand the "why" behind any given investment approach develop the patience to allow it to succeed. We believe a core set of beliefs is critical to withstand the distractions of today's information overload society.

To address this issue, we have developed our educational video, "The Problem with Money". It has 14 chapters, each about three minutes in length. Each chapter isolates an issue or obstacle to successful investing. We then share perspectives on how we define and manage each challenge.

We also believe that a comprehensive approach to wealth management must include planning. Failing to hedge potential "end of life" care expenses or estate tax consequences can undo years of productive investing.

In conclusion, we believe our core role is to protect our clients from the consequences of making emotional decisions. Emotions are the primary obstacle to successful investing. We can be your anchor to rational thought. Tax laws and planning solutions are constantly changing. We pledge to keep you informed as these issues evolve.

James is a licensed investment advisor with the Bartholomew Wealth Management Group. He specializes in investing for high-net-worth families & business owners. James also built a suite investment services that pass fiduciary testing for luxury condominium & homeowner associations and has been serving the condo and HOA market for about a decade.

James was the longtime President of NuRiver Landing Condominium. As President, James won a land dispute with the City of Fort Lauderdale and Broward County that resulted in a $42 million win for the Association. He also beat Comcast in a contractual dispute that resulted in the termination of a 15 year bulk contract and the return of over $100,000 refunded directly to owners. Most notably, James instituted an investment plan that safely generated more return in the first 2 years, roughly $400,000.00, than the Association had earned in its entire history. This was accomplished against the backdrop of two major market declines including the worst recession in over a decade and the global pandemic that began in Wuhan, China. From his work with clients and leading his own Association, James may have the deepest understanding of community association financials in the USA.

In his spare time, James is a regular on NBC's American Ninja Warrior where he is known as the Investment Ninja. He was 1 of just 82 people out of 77,000 to reach the National Finals in Las Vegas in 2018.

James is a published data analytics author. He was the lead author on a series of papers measuring efficiency in basketball. In 2011 he also coached Mens Basketball at FGCU (#15 on your bracket but #1 in your heart). In 2008 James was a basketball player on the Harlem Globetrotters International Tour. For fun, James currently coaches in Nike's Elite Youth Basketball League ("EYBL") & may be the only coach in history to win two FHSAA basketball state championships in one year.  He helped #22 Calvary Christian Academy & Pine Crest earn the title in 2021.
