Utilizing UBS global operations and trading desks we can deliver superior execution and international expertise ranging from equities, alternatives, currencies to fixed income products.
1280 Financial Partners is widely recognized for its expertise in the Insurance, Captive and Reinsurance arena. The team offers customized asset allocations for Captive insurance company’s operating, pledge and trust accounts utilizing institutional-quality investments. Our goal is to provide the best investment advice and execution taking into consideration the captives liquidity needs, domicile requirements, trust requirements and asset/liability matching. With over 20 years’ experience in Insurance Company investments, we are not only well positioned to provide highly specialized guidance, but also to directly access and execute solutions with ease and efficiency.
1280 Financial Partners formed in 2021 to service both institutional and private clients. The two teams that formed the partnership are based in Fort Myers, Florida, and Sandusky Ohio, a distance of 1280 miles between the office locations. Since the original partnership was formed additional team members have joined our partnership with locations in South Carolina and Miami Florida.

Thomas Burt has been assisting companies and not for profits with their investments and retirement plans since 2002. After receiving his degree in Finance, Marketing, and Multi-National Business from the Florida State University, Tom moved to Fort Myers, Florida to work with Morgan Stanley.
In 2012, Tom moved to UBS to work with the Institutional Consulting Group in Florida. He currently assists the consulting efforts of over 200 UBS Advisors in Florida, and is a frequent lecturer on investments and the consulting industry.
Tom is a past member of the Professional Advisory Committee to The American College and one of the top national fundraisers for the Muscular Dystrophy Association and Gallaudet University, a college for the deaf. He lives in Fort Myers, FL with his wife, Nina, and their daughters Anabella, Siena, and Teagan.
Duane Ohly is a seasoned professional with 33 years’ experience in wealth management. Duane is known for his strategic thinking, strong leadership skills, and ability to build and maintain relationships with clients and partners. He is passionate about technology and its potential to transform and disrupt business and improve people’s lives.
Duane is dedicated to a consultative approach and active portfolio management to help his clients reach their goals. As a Senior Portfolio Manager and Retirement Plan Consultant, Duane brings a wealth of experience to his role at UBS. After studying Accounting and Marketing at Bowling Green State University, he entered the financial services business. He started his career at Merrill Lynch in 1991 and joined UBS in 2009.
Duane supports multiple local and national charities focused on children, first responders and military service members.
Duane and his wife Jane live in Sandusky Ohio and have three children Dane, Kamryn and Taylor. When not serving his clients, Duane enjoys boating, diving, snorkeling, fishing and traveling.
Charlie has been assisting clients with their investments and retirement plans since 1980. After receiving his Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from Indiana University's Kelly School of Business, Charlie moved to Fort Myers to work for Dean Witter Reynolds as a financial advisor.
In 1987 Charlie studied with the College of Financial Planning and earned the designation of Certified Financial Planner. CFP. Two years later, in 1989, Charlie took classes at the Wharton School of Business University of Pennsylvania, receiving the designation of Certified Investment Management Analyst. CIMA. In 2005 Charlie was honored to be receive The Falcon. Morgan Stanley 's highest achievement award. In 2006, Charlie joined UBS as a Senior Vice President and Senior Portfolio Manager.
Charlie has been president of the Southwest Florida Soccer Association for over 10 years and also managed the Lee County Strikers, a local soccer club for over seven years. Charlie is active in the community and has served on the board of directors for the Boys and Girls Club of Lee County for over 17 years. Charlie lives in Fort Myers with his wife Patty, and together they have 10 children and seven grandchildren. In Charlies free time he enjoys playing basketball, gardening, and traveling.
Brett Kinzel is passionate about helping clients articulate and prioritize their needs and aspirations and then putting together a plan to pursue them. Brett holds a bachelor's degree in Journalism which he earned at the University of Minnesota. He began his career at Merrill Lynch in 1994 and joined UBS in 2009.
In the summer months, he enjoys boating and golf. He is a longtime volunteer at the YMCA and served several terms as Board President. He also volunteers at the United Way and coaches youth basketball. He and his wife live in Perkins Township, Ohio and have three grown children.
John started his financial career in 1983 at Merrill Lynch. Estate preservation, lifetime income, life insurance and long-term care insurance are all areas he tailors to the client with a personalized financial and investment plan for each relation. John leads the team's corporate retirement plan offerings. He collaborates with business owners, boards, and fiduciaries to maximize efficiencies of the plan design and process.
John is the co-founder and co-chairman of the PORSCHE & Friends Parade to Golisano Children’s Hospital. He was the former President of the PORSCHE Club of America – Everglades Region and also served as the Charter President at Florida Gulf Coast University for the Eagles Club. From 2005 to 2017 John was appointed by Bishop Frank Dewane, as President of the Catholic Community Foundation of the Diocese of Venice. Mr Petracco served as the Charter Counsel President of St John XXIII Parish where he led the successful seven million dollar capital campaign that built the campus.
JP is an avid outdoorsman who has a passion for spearfishing, tennis, swimming and boating. John and his wife of 40 years, Valerie, lives in Fort Myers have two adult children JJ and Gina Marie.
John began his career in the financial and insurance industry in 2002. John has a unique background working on numerous aspects of clients’ financial matters including risk management, financing, and asset management, providing him with insight into the factors affecting a client’s financial position.
Prior to joining UBS in 2012, he has worked at Morgan Stanley Smith Barney, Oswald Trippe & Co. Insurance and Groves Funding. John received his BS in Criminology from the University of South Florida.
John is a 4th generation native of Fort Myers and lives there with his wife Tracy and two children, JT and Madison.
Ben Baum has been in the financial industry for over 30 years. His passion is helping clients establish and build out a viable financial plan and many of his conversations start with, “what keeps you up at night or suppose something happens to you; what happens next?’’ Ben’s practice focuses on business planning and financial dynamics that accompany all avenues of owners and their family members. He fosters and relishes the client relationships that comprise his business practice and community responsibilities.
As a CFP® he and his team meld everyone’s strengths with thoughtful perspectives of the financial markets, institutional experience, and impart why both tactical and strategic long-term financial planning combined with risk management, are necessary for successful investing and wealth preservation.
Ben is a University of Florida graduate, with a major Industrial engineering and also holds a M.B.A. from The University of Miami. Having also carried the Olympic Torch twice now, he loves working with inner city children, coaching swimming, and helping with the USA Olympic Swim Team in his spare time.
Carol became a Financial Advisor in 2000 and was awarded the National Director's Award (First in her class) in both 2002 and 2003 at her previous firm, Morgan Stanley. Her areas of focus include portfolio management and financial planning. Carol earned the UBS Financial Services Portfolio Management Program Designation in 2012. Carol holds the Series 7, 31, 66, Life and Health Insurance and Long Term Care licenses.
Carol has resided in Lee County, Florida since 1986. When she is not helping her clients with their financial goals, she enjoys cooking, golfing, traveling, performing arts and spending time with family, friends and her dog, Button. She also has a passion for the Olympics and has attended prior National and World events and the 2012 Olympics games in London, with plans to attend the 2024 Olympics in Paris, France.
Allen has been around the financial industry for much of his life. Much of Allen's work is with high-net-worth families assisting in financial planning strategies, working with their CPA’s and attorneys, and consulting on corporate retirement plan management.
In 2021 he became a Chartered Retirement Plans Specialist. Allen leverages other team members' areas of expertise to provide an unparalleled concierge level of service to each client. Prior to joining UBS in 2018, Allen held a successful career as a medical device representative, where he consulted with surgeons and staff for three of the world's largest medical device companies in the operating room.
Allen graduated from The University of South Carolina and lives in North Augusta, SC. He is active member of the community and church. Allen also enjoys traveling with his wife, Maria, and two boys, Tripp and Mac. When not working Allen is practicing his culinary skills or being an avid outdoorsman.
Rebecca has been proudly providing service support to clients since 1985.
She began her career at Prescott, Ball & Turben and since that time has worked for several leading firms. She passed her Series 7 securities exam in 2000 and the Series 66 in 2005. She joined UBS in 2009.
Rebecca is the proud parent of a son and daughter and lives in Sandusky, Ohio. In her spare time she loves snow skiing, golfing, boating and running.
Jennifer began her career in 1993 with Advest, Inc. Over the next 24 years, she worked as a fully registered associate with wire house firms including Morgan Stanley, Smith Barney and UBS Financial Services serving professional teams and their clients.
In 2017, Jennifer left the financial services industry to build a real estate business in Charlotte, North Carolina. During this time, she built a successful network of business owners and investors who worked with her to buy and sell residential real estate.
In the fall of 2021, Jennifer and her family relocated back to SW Florida to be closer to family and help her husband’s aging parents move into assisted living. She decided to pursue an opportunity to re-join UBS as a Team Associate and work with her former colleagues in Fort Myers, FL. Jennifer’s passion continues for providing white glove service to clients within the financial services industry.
Jennifer is an avid supporter of military Veterans and local heroes where she has given back to those who serve the local community. She served as an ambassador with the local Chamber of Commerce in Union County, NC and built relationships to support teacher scholarships, the homeless shelter, food banks and other community programs. During her free time, Jennifer enjoys traveling, boating, and visiting the beautiful Florida beaches as she spends time with her husband Bill, and daughter, Elisabeth.
Rebecca “ Becky” began her career in the financial industry in 2011 with Wells Fargo. She has a Paralegal Degree and is fully licensed. Becky is passionate about providing elite service to clients in the financial industry.
In the spring of 2021, Becky and her family made a move from Minnesota to SW Florida for an opportunity to advance in her career. She enjoys being a part of the community. While in Minnesota she was on the development committee with the local Habitat for Humanity for 5 years. As well as the treasurer of a non-profit, Lakes Area Professional Women for 3 years.
Becky in her spare time enjoys spending time with her 2 fur babies and her family, reading, scrapbooking, and traveling most of all.
